MASTERCRAFT FURNITURE REUPHOLSTERY & RESTORATION IN south Florida

For 50 years, our family workshop in Sunrise has restored furniture for homeowners across Fort Lauderdale, Parkland, Boca Raton, and all of Broward County. We don't just replace fabric — we strip pieces down to the bare frame, rebuild them with hand-tied springs and high-density foam, and bring them back better than the day they were made.

The same craftsmanship the Marriott, Hard Rock, and Loews trust for their commercial spaces — applied to the piece you love most.

Should You Reupholster or Buy New?

It's the most common question we hear. Here's the honest answer:

If you're comparing our work to a $1,200 sectional from a big-box store, buying new will always be cheaper upfront. But that big-box sofa is built with low-density foam that flattens within two years, engineered wood (particleboard) that warps in Florida humidity, and stapled joints designed to fail in 3 to 5 years.

A properly reupholstered sofa with a solid hardwood frame is built to last 25 to 50 years. The frame itself is often better than anything made today. The only parts that wear out are the fabric and foam — which is exactly what we replace.

So the real comparison isn't $1,200 vs. $4,500. It's $1,200 every 5 years vs. $4,500 every 30 years.

When Reupholstery Is the Right Call

We tell clients to consider reupholstery when:

  • The frame is solid hardwood (most furniture made before 2000, or any high-end piece today)
  • The piece fits your space perfectly — finding a replacement with the exact dimensions is nearly impossible
  • It carries memory — your grandmother's wingback chair, the sofa from your first home, the banquette your kids grew up eating at
  • You love the silhouette — design styles cycle, and the shape you love may not be in stores today
  • You want materials you can't find at retail — premium leather, performance fabrics, hand-tied springs

If even one of those applies, reupholstery is almost always the smarter long-term investment.

What We Do That Most Shops Don't

While many local shops only offer slipcovers or loose-cushion replacements, we specialize in technical, labor-intensive work:

  • Hand-Pulled Button Tufting — flawless diamond tufting for headboards, Chesterfield sofas, and banquettes. Deep, permanent pleats that won't pull loose over time.
  • Custom Built-In Banquettes & Dining Seating — seamless U-shaped and L-shaped dining nooks with complex radius curves, integrated wall-paneling, and the exact ergonomic angle (102 degrees) that makes long meals comfortable.
  • Leather Furniture Restoration — premium leather requires a completely different skill set than fabric. Our craftsmen are trained in the cutting, skiving, and top-stitching techniques that real leather restoration demands.
  • Structural Frame & Spring Repair — we don't cover up bad foundations. We re-tie 8-way hand-tied coil springs, reinforce loose joints, and replace degraded webbing before a single piece of fabric is cut.

What Does Reupholstery Actually Cost?

Most reupholstery projects in South Florida run between $2,500 and $6,500, depending on the piece and the fabric you choose:

  • Dining chairs and accent chairs: typically start around $400–$900 each
  • Wingback or club chairs: $900–$1,800
  • Loveseats and small sofas: $1,800–$3,500
  • Full sofas and sectionals: $3,500–$6,500+
  • Custom banquettes and built-ins: quoted per project

Premium leather, intricate tufting, and high-end fabric mills (the same ones we source for Marriott and Hard Rock) move pricing higher. Standard performance fabrics keep it lower.

Every quote is free, no obligation. Send us a photo of your piece and we'll give you a real number — usually within 24 hours.

How Long Does It Take?

Most projects are completed in 7 to 14 days once your fabric arrives. Larger sectionals, intricate tufting, or custom-built banquettes may take 3 to 4 weeks.

Fabric sourcing usually adds 2 to 3 weeks before the actual work begins, so most homeowners can expect their finished piece back in their home within 4 to 6 weeks total.
